Top Ten Ways to Energize Yourself
- Put it away, give it away, throw it away. Get rid of the clutter in your environment. Take one weekend and clean out your house, your office and your garage. This simple act, once completed, will give you more energy to focus on creating more of what you want. It also provides more space in your environment for other things or happenings to flow into.
- Allow Yourself Some Passion. Passion, sensuality, and creativity are the keys to unlocking and revitalizing a tired soul. Buy yourself some flowers, go sailing, take a dancing lesson, make art, cook dinner, buy yourself a cashmere sweater, get a massage, or take a luxurious bath. We are sensual creatures and an afternoon of reconnecting to this aspect of our natural essence can be as revitalizing as a weekend retreat.
- Get Physical. Whenever your energy slows down, your physical body also slows down. Your blood is moving slower because your heart is beating slower. Get your body moving! Nothing revives you quicker than a brisk walk or an activity that helps you break a sweat.
- Spread Love. When we unconditionally share love with others we tap into a universal supply of energy. Love is everywhere and it is a creative force. Living with a loving heart and sharing this love others will raise your energy level and increase the vitality of all of your internal organs
- Sing Your Own Song. Many of us mask our lives and hide our truths; we hold back our voice in the favor of letting someone else speak. When we do this over and over in our life, we are shutting down a powerful source of personal energy. The air that passes through our throat creates sound. This sound brings things to life. Find a time and place to let your lungs and voice express their full capacity. Give a speech. Tell your friend the truth about your feelings. Join a group and learn to sing. Play your favorite music at home and sing at the top of your lungs. Go to your favorite watering hole and join the karaoke party.
- Our eyes take in the world. How we perceive the things in our life determine the level of energy we allow in our life. If we see beauty, we feel beauty. If we see hate and anger, we feel hate and anger. Learn to train your eyes to see what you want to experience. Let your eye gaze into the beauty around you. Engage in viewing beautiful things in nature or our world. Go to a museum and sit and study stimulating colors and works of master visual artists.
- Use your Hands. Engaging our creative nature is definitely an energizing experience. Find a fun project such as finger painting, paper mache, drawing, sculpture, crafting, sewing, or woodworking. Pick something that allows you the optimum freedom of expression. As you engage in your project, experience yourself as a creative being. Think of nothing else. Become fully present with your hands and the project in front of you. Let your mind be put on hold and watch your creativity and energy bloom.
- Eat Brightly Colored Food. Bright colored foods (fruits and vegetables) help you to create a bright energetic life. Most people overeat wheat and meat products. These foods are slow to digest and clog your system. If your system is moving slowly, so are you. Add more veggies and fruits to your diet and reduce those heavy, slow-processing foods. You will feel more vital and alive after doing this for only ten days.
- Stretch Yourself. Just like a cat or a dog that stretches every time it gets up, you too can revitalize your system with the same ritual. Stretching releases tension in the muscle tissues and allows fresh oxygen and blood to flow in. This revitalizes the tissues and cleanses the system. Ten minutes of stretching before going to sleep and upon awakening can revitalize your body. Stretch two or three other times throughout the day and see how much better you feel!
- Engage the Silence of Your Mind. Even though our minds are seldom silent, there is a place and time we can engage in a silence that clears away all of the events and happenings that can drain us. Meditation is a time and place for us to go within. It is a time for us to tap into the sound of our breath, our natural rhythms and the silence we find between our thoughts. Our body relaxes, our senses heighten and we become nurtured and replenished souls.
